At First Baptist Church, we are united by a desire to glorify God by simply following Jesus in transforming the world by making disciples that make disciples. Jesus came to live among people, to serve them, and to give his life to save them. As disciples of Christ, we are here to serve the people of our community, proclaim the gospel, and equip people to live the lives that God intends for them.
WE WANT TO BE A PART OF MAKING COMMERCE AN EVEN GREATER PLACE TO LIVE BUT, MUCH MORE IMPORTANTLY, WE WANT TO BRING A GREATER LIFE TO THE PEOPLE OF COMMERCE.
In Commerce, we have a somewhat unique opportunity to minister to people from all over the world. Each year, hundreds of people, from many nations, come to our relatively small town to be part of Texas A&M University - Commerce. While here, they gain a great education at the fastest growing University in the Texas A&M system. Many of them make Commerce their home while attending school. Once they receive their education, the vast majority of them move somewhere else in the world.
At First Baptist, we want to welcome these people into our community, reach them with the good news of Jesus Christ, and equip them to make disciples wherever they may go. This is what Jesus did and has commanded us to do. It is his plan for redeeming his creation.
