About Us

We, the believers of First Baptist Church of Commerce, Texas, who are saved by the grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, do declare our love for God and our commitment to His purpose.

Called by God, as a New Testament church, whose doctrine is founded on the Holy Scriptures, we dedicate ourselves to the following objectives:

      1. To worship and glorify God regularly as a fellowship of baptized believers.
      2. To promote growth in Christian maturity by teaching God’s truths revealed in His Holy Word.
      3. To witness to the saving love of God by engaging in the ministries of redemption and reconciliation.
      4. To serve God by helping meet the needs of people in our community and around the world.

Ours is a church dedicated to the vision of making an impact for Christ in our community and around the world. We are comprised of a wide variety of individuals, each coming from a unique background, and providing invaluable input. We seek to worship God together through learning, teaching, praying, singing and celebrating, but we also seek to serve those around us.

It is our goal to show the love of Jesus to every person in the Commerce area. We seek to express the joy, peace and saving grace of our Lord and Savior to all we encounter, not merely with our words, but with our actions. We seek to be God's church, not only within the confines of our building, but at all times.

Our Core Values

Integrity - We do what we say.
"Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth." - 1 John 3:18

Faithfulness - We do what God says.
"With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!" - Psalm 119:10

Humility - We put others first.
"Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves." - Philippians 2:3

Service - We see a need; we meet it.
"For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom to many." - Mark 10:45

Generosity - We give as Jesus gives.
"For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you." - John 13:15

Honesty - We tell the truth as kindly as possible.
"Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ." - Ephesians 4:15

Unity - We are better together.
"And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony." - Colossians 3:14
