Senior Pastor
I am humbled and thrilled to pastor the First Baptist Church of Commerce. Although my family and I have only lived here since 2016, we have a long history with this community. My wife, Kathy, grew up in Commerce, and we were married at First Baptist in 1996. She is the daughter of Dr. Wendell and Linda Edwards, who lived and worked in Commerce for almost 50 years. Kathy and I have two sons, Nolan and Ty.
Churches are often measured by the size of their congregation but Scripture uses a different gauge. Jesus commanded the church, from the very beginning, to “make disciples of all nations.”
This command was not just for his immediate disciples but for those that came after them. That means us. As pastor, my focus is to equip our church to simply follow Christ in making disciples that make disciples for the sake of others and the glory of God. If we are doing that, then our lives, our church, our community, and our world will be transformed.
We are far from perfect but seek to love God with all that we are and love our neighbors the way that Christ loves us. We hope that you will join us soon. You are welcome here.
